1996 Volvo 850 car door latch repair

My car door wouldnt open from the inside.
I took off the door panel and found that the piece connecting the handle to the door release had come loose because of a broken plastic piece that was supposed to hold it in place.
I used a small tent stake which I bent in place to replace the metal piece that would no longer stay in place.
