Severe Ash Dieback Chalara - signs symptoms felling infected trees. Please see captions for info

We are felling a stand of Ash Trees Fraxinus excelsior heavily infected with Ash Dieback Hymenoscyphus fraxineusChalara fraxinea. This video illustrates the necrotic lesions in the bark and xylem crown dieback of trees leaf loss. Ash Dieback is a fungal infection.
The spores are active June to October. It is always fatal to the tree.
There is no cure. We will burn the affected material on site and disinfect our tools afterwards.
The site will be replanted with a mix of native hardwoods to improve biodiversity and increase resistance to disease.
We will also allow some regrowth of naturally seeded ash which may be more tolerant of the disease.
