shares one of her favorite recipes--Savannah Red Rice--in this episode of Bank Kitchen Recipe.
The recipe follows...
SAVANNAH RED RICE
- one 1 cup of uncooked white rice
- two 2 cups of water
- one 1 cup of tomato sauce
- one 1 16-ounce can of stewed tomatoes
- four 4 strips of uncooked bacon
- one 1 large chopped green bell pepper
- one 1 large chopped white onion
- one 1 pound of pre-cooked summer sausage
- one 1 Tablespoon of parmesan cheese
- 14 teaspoon of ground black pepper
First preheat an oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Next cook the rice in two cups of water in a covered dish.
Then while the rice is cooking slice the pre-cooked summer sausage into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
Next cook the bacon in a skillet until crisp.
Then remove the bacon from the skillet allow to cool and then chop into bite-sized pieces.
Using the remaining bacon drippings brown the chopped bell pepper and onion.
In a mixing bowl combine the rice cooked bell pepper and onion sausage bacon tomato sauce stewed tomatoes and ground black pepper.
Blend ingredients together.
Then pour the rice mixture into a greased two-quart casserole dish spread evenly.
Finally garnish the dish with the parmesan cheese and bake for approx.
30 minutes.
