- Dhaba Style Chicken Curry -
An authentic and spice infused curry dish that you NEED to try!
Ingredients
Chicken Marinade
- 4 chicken breasts cut into chunks
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 lime freshly squeezed
Onion Paste
- 3 medium onions roughly chopped
- 5 garlic cloves
- 2 inches ginger
- 2 green chilies
Dry Spices
- 2 Bay leaves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cardamoms
- 6 peppercorns
- 3 cloves
Cooking
- Glug of cooking oil around 2 tbsp
- 1 tsp cumin seeds 1-2 minutes
- Dry spices from earlier 1-2 minutes
- Onion paste from earlier
- 2 medium tomatoes chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 2 tbsp coriander
- Marinated chicken
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 cup water
Serving recommendations
- Naan bread
- Rice
- Fresh coriander
Method Tips
- Allow the chicken to marinade for at least 1 hour 3-4 hours is preferable.
This will allow the meat to soak in more flavour later
- Cook chicken on medium heat add further water whilst cooking if required so the spices do not get burnt.
I cooked the chicken here for about 20-25 mins.
- If you find the curry is too watery just remove the lid and let is simmer until sauce thickens
- When adding red chilli powder you can add more or less depending on how spicy you like it
