Nissan Caravan MyRoom Combines A Bare-Bones Exterior With An Ingenious Homely Cabin
Shortly after celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Caravan with a special edition in the Japanese market Nissan launched a new version of their minivan called the Caravan MyRoom.
The new model includes a factory-fit camper conversion transforming the interior into a versatile modular living space.
The camper is the production version of the MyRoom concept that debuted nearly two years ago at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon.
According to Nissan the goal is to allow owners to take their room in nature and relax something that can be done in their daily lives.
From the outside the Nissan Caravan MyRoom looks like a bare-bones minivan due to the unpainted plastic bumpers and the black steelies.
A closer look reveals the special stickers on the side windows and the exclusive beigewhite exterior shade of the pictured example it is also available in sand and two other shades.
For the MyRoom Nissan opted for the standard-roof low-floor and longer-body version of the Caravan measuring 5080 mm 200 inches long.
Note that the sixth-gen Caravan originally called NV350 was introduced back in 2011 with two consecutive facelifts in 2017 and in 2021.
Open the sliding doors or the tailgate of the aging model and youll see that the ultimate highlight of the MyRoom is its custom interior.
The entire rear portion of the cabin is covered in wood grain inspired by minimalist designer hotels in Japan.
The modular setup can be configured to living room bedroom or dining room modes with different arrangements for the seats table and bed cushions.
The second-row seats have a special design making it possible to convert them to rear-facing sofas by flipping the seatbacks with the integrated cushions.
Furthermore they can fold flat creating a large-sized bed in combination with a multi-part mattress.
Speaking of the bed Nissan offers two variations with a folding or a single-action flip-up design.
Furthermore the sliding and removable table can be converted to a desk or a dining area depending on the needs of the user.
Last but not least the Caravan MyRoom comes fitted with portable battery packs sourced from the Nissan Leaf EV.
The recyclable cells can power any kind of electronic device via an AC 100V outlet inside the cabin.
The standard equipment of the launch edition also includes curtains wood blinds wood-grain roof panels with spot LEDs and hidden lighting a branded cushion and a roll screen.
As for the powertrain the only available option is the 2.0-liter QR20DE petrol engine that produces 129 hp 96 kW 130 PS and 178 Nm 131 lb-ft of torque sending power to either the rear or to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
